Maurits Cornelis Escher, Homage Poster, 1973' Description Homage to Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898 - 1972) , The Detroit Institute of Art, A Phoenix Gallery Traveling Exhibit, May 30 to August 12, 1973, Poster!!  This art poster would make a great addition to anyone's Esher collection.  One of the most famous graphic artists in the world, he worked primarily in the media of lithographs and woodcuts, though the few mezzotints he made are considered to be masterpieces of the technique.  In his graphic art he portrayed mathematical relationships among shapes, figures, and space.  Additionally, he explored interlocking figures using black and white to enhance different dimensions.  Integrated into his prints were mirror images of cones, spheres, cubes, rings and spirals.  In 1968 (four years before his death), Escher established The M.C. Escher Foundation, to preserve the legacy of his work. This art poster is a great homage to the artist.  Any Escher art collector would have an excellent addition to their collection with this great piece of work. This art poster measures 17 1/4" x 33 1/2".   The artwork that is on the poster is from a work that Escher did in 1938 titled "Cycle".  The overall condition is very good, there are staple holes around the very outer edges and couple of very slight wrinkles on the top.  There is one little tear about a 1/4" long on the outer edge, outside the border.  Matted and framed these slight blemishes would hardly be noticed if at all.  To avoid buyers returning items, we do our best to describe and list every blemish that we see.     We are listing this great item with NO RESERVE, so have fun and happy bidding!!
