Was going to frame and display them forthe lobby of the office. Decided to keep them locked in the safe.I showed them to an art instructor Gary Wilson, Associate Professor ofArt at=20the Monroe County Comm. College, who teaches Haring styles andhe concurred that these were very nice examples of Haring works. Hesaid to hold them, not to sell them 8/02.Several scholars have all noted that the description that came with thepieces describe the pieces accurately. They feel that these are earlypieces (late 70’ early 80’s) and at that time he did not date a lot ofhis pieces.I have shown them to the appraisers at Doyle Auction House, NY and theyall concur that “they” felt these were fine works of Mr. Haring. Ifthey went to auction, they estimate $5,000-7,500. 8/05.I showed the pieces to my FBI friend, Carpenter whom had his friend doa signature analysis and he concluded that his signature varies fromall his pieces but comparing to known signatures from the book, K.Haring by Elisabeth Sussman he thought the signatures were that ofHarings. 5/06.I met an “art authenticator/appraiser” Dan Hersh, (I think this was hisname). He was very impressed with the pieces. He wanted me to hiringhim to do authentication and appraisal on them. In conversation heconcludes that these were fine early examples of Haring. He estimatedthey would bring in the open market or to a museum/collector$8,000-11,000 each. 8/07.Any scholar can do an authentication and appraisal but historicallythey are not worth the paper they20are printed on because they are so“subjective”. When it comes to art, we must have objective basedevidence, which would be a video/picture of the artist signing thepiece. A witness to the signing of the work or destroy the piece bydoing a finger print analysis since the artist is deceased and hecannot attest to his works. Something I don’t have. I feel that I’veseen enough of his pieces that I was comfortable investing in all sixpieces. It would be nice to keep the six pieces together as I thinkthere were a total of eight in the group. It was noted to me when Ibought them that two had already been sold. Could there had been moreI recall asking and they said No, knowing where the pieces came from.But who really knows. I don’t have that history beyond what I havefrom Firehouse.If I die from this stupid cancer I want the kids to know that theseshould be worth a lot of money and I would like to see a Museum displaythem proudly.
