(34.6 x 14.6cm) Overall size, including stained hardwood frame 15 3/4 x 28 1/8 in. (40 x 71.4cm) provenance: Gift from the artist to Hannah O'Brien who nursed the artist's brother, Maurice Brazil Prendergast, at his Greenwich Village home in New York. Private Collection, Idaho. note: According to Dr. Nancy Mowll Mathews, this work dates from circa 1920 and relates to works such as "Decorated Mirror With Two Figures" circa 1915-17 (catalogue raisonne no. 2231), "Decoration on Glass" circa 1915-17 (catalogue raisonne no. 2233) and "Fairy Story" circa 1920, reworked in 1946 (catalogue raisonne no. 2277). The latter piece, which features similar motifs was a gift to the artist's friend, William Glackens.
