550 Vintage Paris Etching Society Prints Start Price USD 349.99 Current Price USD 349.99 Time Left - Bid Count 1 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, August 29, 2008 End Time Monday, September 01, 2008 Location Freehold, New Jersey See more about '550 Vintage Paris Etching Society Prints' Description Up for auction is a lot of 550 Paris Etching Society Prints.  The photos show 12 different prints, but there are only eleven - one print was photographed twice.  They were found in an old warehouse in New York City.  They are in the original wrapping paper in which they were shipped to the warehouse.   The wrapping paper has deteriorated.  However; the prints are like new and are on heavy art paper.   On the left bottom  of each is the  name of the print in pencil and on the right bottom is the signature of the artist in pencil.  On the top corner is the copyright c and words Paris Etching Society - NY, USA.  The SLZ in a circle that also appears on the bottom of the  prints means the this prints were only done for that company.  The initials stand for Sidney Z. Lucas who was the owner of  a New York business named "The Old Print Center" and he owned a Gallery named after his mother, The Camilla Lucas Gallery, from 1928 to the 1950's.  During these years he traveled to Europe several times a year and comissiond etchings by various French artists which he copyrighted and published under the "Paris Etching Society" Imprint.  Each artist would name his etching and sign his name, usually in pencil.  On the back  each is stamped "Made in France".  When he went out of business these prints were left in the warehouse.  Each print measures 18 3/4" total length by 12 3/4"  total width.  The actual picture is slighty smaller.   Photos of signatures will be furnished upon request. Paper is slightly yellow from time, but the picture is in excellent condition. 50 prints of each of the 11 different ones.   Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
