Latin American Art - Neofigurative movement This is a great painting, likely one of his best early mixed media paintings. I purchased the painting from a South American Antiques dealer located in Lima Peru. Fresh to market from a recent acquisition by the dealer from an estate sale. **The dealer didn't know if the painting travelled from Argentina or France with the family having the estate sale. The former owners were not Peruvian however the painting was made at a time when Segui traveled in South America prior to 1961 according to Art Price's - Segui Work and Life history shown above. The painting shows a naked woman, likely the model, being painted by a man holding a book with a sketch on it, likely the artist. It is made on paper using watercolor, ink and gouache. It measures approx 9 X 11 inches and is signed and dated top right "Segui 60 over 29/1/60". THIS PAINTING IS ABSOLUTELY Terrific and is attributed to Antonio Segui based on the style, signature, medium and provenance provided. The painting is by a modern art master. It will be a fine addition to any Modern Art Collection.
