Description
Beautiful A G Rider original painting of Sailboats in varying forms of dress on the beach. One boat is at Full sail and there are five painted on the beach all together. The fourth has a figure hauling in the sail lines or netting. It is signed A G Rider in the lower right hand portion of the painting. This never before offered for sale original piece of art was painted by Arthur Grover Rider, California Impressionist Painter, who studied in Spain under Joaquin Sorolla. Rider gave this painting and one other to one of his best friends whom he had met and worked with at the Opera House in Chicago while Rider was studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. During this time, Rider went to Spain to study under Sorolla and then returned to the United States and eventually settled in Laguna Beach in Californina. There he continued to paint and worked for 20th Century Fox and MGM Studios. Arthur Grover Rider stands without comparison as the ultimate practioner of Impressionist Color Theory. This painting has never been offered to the public before. This is your chance to own a painting by one of the greatest American Impressionists. Their provenance is well known as the 2 paintings by Arthur Grover Rider had been in one family since they were painted many many years ago. This particular painting would be one of his earliest paintings (possibly his earliest?) of the sailboats for which he has become so famous. It measures just under 10 x 10 but somehow gives a huge look at this early work.
