Description
Some of the people looking at this listing will know what this print is, but for the benefit of those who don't, or are merely curious, please read on! Here is a screen grab of the original pop up page that appeared on the opening nite of Santas Ghetto : No, it isn't a typo or a fake/doctored regular print with a knocked up webpage screengrab- it really is a special edition of just 28, making it one of Banksys lowest edition prints. This was available only in person @ santas ghetto 2007 in Bethlehem. Yes....THE Bethlehem. You could not buy these online like all the other ghetto prints, you had to go all the way to Palestine. Slap bang in the middle of Manger Square to be precise, and you also had to go in person to submit a bid on original 1/1 pieces made by a long list of artists for the show and to raise cash for children over there. I made the trip out there, and in addition to seeing the nasty inhumane wall and the effect it has had on the people there- which was the whole point of having the ghetto there in 2007, to draw peoples attention to it- I got to see a great show & some incredible works, but was also lucky enough to be able to get this print as well as some other amazing pieces. It was an amazing experience , and the point was well and truly made. A change in circumstances combined with a change in direction of collection & my tastes shifting is the reason it is up for sale. I am a private seller & this is from my personal collection. I am not a gallery, and I do not buy works purely to sell. Nothing else that I purchased in Bethlehem is for sale, so please don't ask! The end paper this is printed on was the original packaging for the paper for the other 'regular' trolley prints, and is almost card like, and unlike regular art paper or any other Banksy print or edition. It is quite stiff in comparison to regular print paper and thick, textured, and it doesn't let any light through if you hold it up. As a result, the colours appear different to the 'regular' trolley edition- different shades, and more silvery/grey showing through and shinier. The texture of the end paper really enhances it, and as a result it looks rather different to the regular colour trolley edition. It really does look superb, and it is of course signed by the man himself... Plenty of pictures for you- including the reverse (the one above is the stamp from behind). You can't really see it all too clearly in the pictures, but all of these 28 edition that I have seen have some sort of bleed through onto the rear from the ink used for the handles. I am not prepared to go at length into the hand finished handle issue here and whether this edition is or is not- I have email correspondence from pest control regarding this issue, but I am not willing to post it here as it is already controversial enough and seems to bring out the worst traits in people when discussing it. The value is based primarily on the low edition & rarity , regardless of anything else. Stored flat since purchase in a conservation standard sleeve and away from any direct sunlight, cats, UV, smoke or anything else that could have possibly damaged it. I also still have the original tube from when I picked it up from POW personally (I didnt really feel like trusting royal mail with something like this....would you????!!). It is IMMACULATE & UNMARKED condition. -Provenance: Plenty. Boarding passes to/from TLV, voucher agreeing to purchase obtained at the ghetto, my c/card receipt showing payment to POW, email confirmation, and of course I am the original purchaser so it is registered in my name. If you would rather meet at POWs offices for Dora to confirm it is genuine, I am sure this can be arranged. I will also prepare a detailed receipt for the new owner as proof of purchase and ownership. - The price.. It is from an edition of just 28, making it one of Banksys smallest print runs. The two from this edition that have sold on ebay previously have gone for in excess of £14,000 Another of this edition sold at Dreweatts urban art auction in late June for a hammer price of £13,000, which comes to £15,600 including buyers premium of 20%----> dnfa.com/search.asp?view=lotno&auction=12977&lotno=44&uniqueid=355529-2 . This puts my price at a fair market value- and specialists are in agreement regarding this figure. I could - and have been offered to- sell it at an auction house , but that involves waiting and a fair degree of hassle, hence using ebay for maximum exposure. I rarely list items in auction format as I prefer BIN format. The above picture taken WITH flash, hence the different shades... all other pictures taken with no flash & in natural light. -Shipping etc: Not a chance this is being posted in the uk! Pick up/delivery only- very flexible in this regard.. International? Safer for me to deliver it or you to come pick it up with a cheapy ticket. Again, I am very flexible regarding this sale and of course want it to get to you in one piece.. It could be shipped, but full value would have to be declared-possibly incurring the buyer import charges- , and it would have to be shipped flat. Please mail me with any queries if you are genuinely interested and outside the Uk. -Payment: To be agreed with buyer. Bank transfer/Cheque/cash is preferred. Other methods by mutual agreement between myself and the purchaser. Obviously this needs to be done face to face! ps. The ONLY reason a paypal account is required, is to attempt to reduce moron timewaster buyers from hitting buy it now.. Would anyone seriously send off 13k to someone by paypal?? As a seller I wouldnt expect you to either... Any questions at all, please don't hesitate to mail me. I will respond as soon as possible. Thanks for looking!
