Thank you and Good luck Braulio Matos Painter The feminine figure and vegetation are two elements synthesizing the dense pictorial world of Braulio Matos, in works of surrealistic tendencies. Woman - nymph, Egyptian Princess or an image of fluttering wings - appears in stylized and expressive drawings enwrapped in a dynamic collection of animals, birds, flowers and, in a dominant disposition, of tree branches conditioning her, now in her smallness, now in her hieratic effigy, an unreal condition, more adequate of myths than of human personal experience. While, on a second plane, the vegetation serves the artist of element of illation for his detailed composition carefully elaborated by lineal arabesques or by strias in movement. Flowers, exotic birds, strange or grotesque animals pullulating in this tropical universe of unreal insinuations as an entangled and complex background taking us to sensual suggestions in the feminine figure and of obsessive dreams in the euphuistic court of elements involving her. These elements are revitalized by the color of sober contrasts in which ochers predominate increased by black and opaque shades of green. The work of Braulio Matos has varied in his short years of production, notably in the composition. Of organized collections by intersections of ample curves and vertical lines it has passed through a colorful variation of diagonal bands, in 1999 and - as of 2000 - it is organized in diminutive and irregular volumes in a second plane, subordinated, in the frontal plane, by motifs of great volume. A work whose fundamental characteristic is the achieved expression of a lustful, uncontainable nature in its imaginative connection of images and unrestrained in its incessant rhythm, reviving that dense natural habitat in which life is not extinguished and the activity does not cease in an extravagant of continuous cycles.
