Condition: Faint, even toning to paper. Bio: Bucks County printmaker and sculptor Charles Wells is well-known for his sculptures and his etchings and drawings. His etchings of luminaries in music, letters, and the humanities are recognized world wide as being among the most penetrating studies of their subjects ever produced.  Educated at the George School in Pennsylvania and Amherst College, he lived ten years in Pietrasanta, Italy and won the Prix de Rome in 1964.  His works are included in many important collections including the Library of Congress, The Whitney Museum, M.I.T., the Corcoran Gallery, and the National Academy of Design from which he received a Gold Medal in 1987.
