Description
This is an ORIGINAL Dilbert sketch and finished comic strip. Both are framed together, making this collector's piece priceless! What also makes this priceless is that Scott Adams does NOT sell these online as he did in 2007. In 2007 he started a website to sell such originals, which he describes below. Currently there is no way to purchase these pieces. This original is from Scott's personal collection of originals that he chooses personally for special causes. Last year, Scott donated a similar piece to benefit an organization, and it was purchased almost immediately at the Buy-It-Now price of $1500. This year the buy-it-now price is higher because of the popularity of Scott's work, and the scarcity of these originals. I advise serious buyers not to wait! In the photos you can see the sketch and the final inking. You can also see the finished version as it ran in newspapers. The comic features Alice, the Pointy Haired Boss, and Dilbert. Because these pieces are no longer sold online, they are significantly more valuable than the original asking price of $1500. Scott Adams stated in 2007: Original "Dilbert" comics are relatively rare. Adams explained: "For the past few years, I have drawn 'Dilbert' directly to the computer, so there will be no new originals. For the first 10 years or so, I used a water-based ink for my originals, and those would fade in direct light, so they can't be sold unless I solve that problem. The only 'Dilbert' originals suitable for sale are the ones created during a certain window when I used a permanent ink." The cartoonist framed a few of those strips, signed them with a drawing of Dogbert, and included in the frame a smaller finished version of the comic as it ran in newspapers. "The originals are in pencil, with only the outside panels and the drawings inked over," he said. "The text was later completed on the computer so it shows up as pencil on the original. The price is $1,500." http://www.allbusiness.com/services/business-services-miscellaneous-business/4694775-1.html ABOUT THE CARTOONIST: You can read Scott Adams' biography here: http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/dilbert/news_and_history/html/about_scott_adams.html Scott Adams arrived in the SF Bay Area in 1979. "Dilbert is a composite of my co-workers over the years. He emerged as the main character of my doodles... Dilbert was launched in 1989 after several months of further developing the strip. That was my first cartooning for profit." DILBERT BOOKS: I have written four original best-selling books: The Dilbert Principle, Dogbert's Top Secret Management Handbook, The Dilbert Future, and The Joy of Work. The first two were #1 New York Times Best Sellers. Including strip reprint books there are 22 Dilbert books with over 10 million copies in print. NEWSPAPERS: Dilbert appears in 2,000 newspapers in 65 countries, making it one of the most successful syndicated comic strips in history. INTERNET: The Dilbert web site, dilbert.com, was the first syndicated comic strip to go online in 1995 and is the most widely read syndicated comic on the Internet. Thank you for looking; good luck with your bidding!
