Description
The Stehelins Of Normandy France came to Nova Scotia in late 1800s.They were aristocrats who founded New France ,just outside of Weymouth-Nova Scotia -aprox 17 miles from the centre of Town.They came here with intentions of building a city ,first they built a Mansion -along with Apts,and bunk houses for staff.This was given its name ..Electric City ..on account they had power before many other towns across Nova Scotia,including Weymouth .They built a Railroad from Mansion to Weymouth-aprox 17 miles to haul logs from mill to harbour for export.New France was a blend of European French,Acadians,Black,and Micmac cultures.The Stehelins had a major impact on the development of todays Universite St.Anne.The settlement of New France is protected by The Iriving Family today.The Stehelins had 10 sons n daughters who were active in local community.Simone along with other brothers n sisters were educated at Universities in 1896 .Simone returned to Paris where she continued to paint ,this one of her faith was given to local Rev.Louis Leblanc-who was Father of Saint Anne-Bernard areas.This was given to Father Leblanc day after he came to Electric City for a Holiday.Simone had received her first communion at The Sacred Heart the Day before holiday.The Father was a good friend of family,hence after He became Bishop of New Brunswick in 1912 ,the Bishop Room came about at Louis Camp.The size of painting is 16 1/2 inches wide by 22 1/2 inches tall-unframed.Signed and dated in lower right hand corner.Only one of these known in Canada.A Rare Important Historical Art Work .Minor resortation needed -easily brought back to its former state by a professional .Modest opening.Thanks for looking.Have a great Day.............Book by Paul Hans Stehelin is included with Art .Paul was educated at Saint Annes and Dalhousie -Halifax.
