Quilts are the cultural handicraft of the Hmong.  Quilts are made using ancient techniques such as using beeswax, cross-stitching, and hand sewing. Beeswax is used to draw the pictures. After dying, the beeswax is scraped off to reveal the beautiful white patterns on the quilt. The dark indigo blue coloring on the quilt is derived from the root of a tree. The colors of the quilt come from nature as the Hmong use natural materials such as leaves, roots, nuts, etc. to color the fabric used in these quilts. The provocative patterns of the quilt come from recycled pieces of Hmong clothing. The design of each quilt is unique and reflects the nature of the Hmong people who created them - - simple, natural, sincere, honest and very creative.
