Purvis and Winstead were two of the FBI 'G Men' on detail that day. The quotations from the coroner and Polly Hamiliton (Dillinger's last mistress) are verbatim. Anna Sage, the infamous 'Lady in Red' is encircled as per the title. Much of the scene was inspired by a bubble gum card 'G-MEN TRACK DOWN NOTORIOUS PUBLIC ENEMY' from the series G-MEN AND HEROES OF THE LAW produced by Gum Inc. in Philadelphia in the Mid 30s.
