Description
Kolb Brothers 3-piece framed set: Ca. 1911 Classic Kolb Brothers canyon views, beautifully matted and framed in period frames. Colored printed photos under glass. 13" x 15" framed, image size 8" x 10". Typed captions on backs as written below. Looking east from Hopi (Rowe) Point 35-mile view Typed caption on back Framing stamp (on all three) Colorado River. At bottom right is entrance to Ha-Va-Su Canyon Looking down the river from Turtle Head (a few more words here that are illegible) About the photographers: The Kolb brothers – Emery and Ellsworth – moved to Arizona at the turn of the 20th century and established the Grand Canyon's first successful photography business. In 1911 they ran the Colorado River and brought back the first "motion pictures" of the Canyon the world had ever seen. For the next 75 years, the brothers produced a body of work that recorded the better part of a remarkable century.
