Description
Large Edward W. D. Hamilton Impressionist Oil Painting Edward Wilbur Dean Hamilton (1864-1943)         Currently, I am having my major "Labor Day" sale!   This is one of the many important paintings included in this specatuclar two-session sale.   The painting is 100% guaranteed, as described.          This painting was originally presented by John Moran Auctioneers and comes from a private collection. If it does not sale... it will not be offered again...it's too good!   Well, well, well...look at what the "Cat" has dragged in- an American impressionist masterpiece. Arguably, this is one of the finest American impressionist oil paintings to ever be offered on eBay. Most paintings of this quality have been locked away in museums.   A bold color palette, combined with a strong impasto are confidently applied, in this fluid composition. This is truly one of Edward Wilbur Dean Hamilton's best paintings...if not his best!     If you are unfamilar with Edward Wilbur Dean Hamilton, I would like to share with you his biography from "AskART":   "Biography from AskART: Born in Pennsylvania and studying painting in Boston, he was a teacher at the Massachusetts Normal Art School from 1892 to 1942 and ran a summer school in Kingston, Massachusetts. He was an impressionist landscape, genre, and portrait painter and was especially noted for garden landscapes. He studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School and in 1883 moved to Providence, Rhode Island where he studied with Tomasso Juglaris at the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1892, he returned to Boston, setting up a studio on Boylston Street and exhibiting at the Boston Art Club and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He died in Kingston in 1943."     Item Details: This large oil on canvas measures 35" by 40", with its' frame. The actual painting measures 25" by 30". The painting is signed by Hamilton, on the lower right.       Condition: The painting is almost pristine, other than the faint outline of a top stretcher bar. On a scale of 1 (can't see the mark) to 10(heavy indenture), I would rate this mark a 3. Another small conservation treatment should correct it. The painting was professionally conserved by the famous Reuben Lucero, in 2005. If you care to read more about the life of this famous conservator and restorer, please go to: http://www.californiaart.com/archives0803.html   The 5" wide, carved and ornate wood (heavy) frame is quite old. It is in good, overall condition. Please note that new mounting brackets (attatching the frame) and corner brackets (for the stretcher) were installed to secure the painting.   When examining the painting under the ultraviolet light, I did not find any evidence of inpainting. The signature is original to the painting and it did not flouresce under the ultraviolet light.   "The Museum of Fine Arts" (Boston) and "The Columbus Museum of Art" (Ohio) are only 2, of many important collections, that own Hamilton's work.  This painting is not only one of Hamilton's best paintings, but one of the best American impressionist paintings to be offered for sale over the past decade- anywhere!      Good luck on becoming the winning bidder of this spectacular impressionist oil painting by Edward Wilbur Dean Hamilton.     *To ensure that everyone has a fair chance,  I will not be revealing any reserves this week.*     Shipping and Insurance Costs: Full Insurance, Handling Costs and Online Tracking is included in shipping fee ! (Once your item has been shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number). For the international bidders, U.S. law states that I must declare the actual value of any item that I sale, on the customs' forms. Unfortunately, this leaves the buyers outside the United States are responsible for all shipping, insurance, import taxes and customs duty fees.
