He exhibited with the Bohemian Art Club, and was employed both with the Cleveland Press and The Leader.W.L. Evans created the W.L. Evans School of Cartooning and Caricaturing (Kingmoore Building, Cleveland Ohio.) in 1907; these lessons are dated 1909. The lessons are complete with lessons and plates; each lesson is signed in pencil by W.L. Evans himself. Many famous pioneers of the cartooning industry studied under Mr. Evans, including, Elzie Segar- creator of "Popeye" and "Charlie Chaplin in Comic Capers" and "Looping the Loop" comic strips, and even Chester Gould, of "Dick Tracy". Two very famous graduates of The W.L. Evans School of Cartooning and Caricaturing school were Hank Ketchum, creator of "Dennis the Menace" and Lank Leonard, who created the strip "Mickey Finn". Alford, Miller, Henderson, DeBall, and Schidler also endorsed the Evans School in advertisements for the school. You are bidding on: four original lesson books from The W.L.
