Up for bid is a limited edition art print of four young children playing pond hockey during the Midwest winter months. I completed an original painting in February, 2008, and the prints are now for sale. The jerseys that the boys are wearing depict the rivalry of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey teams. Please note that each print is signed and licensed from both universities. This auction is for a framed print, oak frame and green matte. Also available unframed as well. The original oil painting is based on a childhood memory of playing pond hockey. The neighborhood kids wore colors of their favorite college team, instead of jerseys, and made their own sticks. Games were always started with a three count. The setting for this modern depiction of kids playing for fun is from photographs of Riverside Park in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
