It measures about 11 1/4 X 15 1/4 ".Jorge Carreño was a fantastic political cartoonist and caricaturist, illustrator, painter and consummated student of the form, sharp wit and deadly accurate social/political commentary, in La Prensa. He was offered a job as an assistant in the art division. In due time, he became the official caricaturist for the paper’seditorial page. He was doing political caricature, and [drawing] for the sports and social sections (Portraits).  In 1952 and barely 23 years old, Jorge Carreño was already being described somewhat exaggeratedly as “one of the greats of Mexican caricature”. A formally trained artist who worked in charcoal, watercolor, sanguina, as well as oil, he also worked in Novedades (a Mexican newspaper). He was awarded with many prizes. In a few more years, he was picked by Páges Llergo to ascend to the position of cover illustrator for Siempre!
