The picture is of an atractive young girl purported to be the daughter of Henry Graham White, Liberal MP for Birkenhead East. between 1922 and 1945. The picture is entitled "A young lady in a peach coloured dress" or 'Belly', was painted in 1934 and exhibited by Hirst in Liverpool in that year. The picture is mounted in a fine quality gilt frame 91cm wide by 112cm high over the frame and weighs 8.6kg. the picture size is 70cm by 95cm Norman Hirst (1862-1956) was born in Liverpool and showed exstensively at the Royal Academy, the Fine Art Society, the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
