Description
Wonderful Oil Painting, early work by famous American artist, signed Irving R. Bacon, Munich 1908. Large Indian scene showing landscape and early train. Size is approx. 46" X 30" with frame 55" X 39". Bacon was born in 1875 in Fitchberg, Mass, died 1962 in El Cajon, Cal. Bacon studied at Gies Art School in Detroit, Chase School of Art, and the Royal Art Academy in Munich with von Zugel and von Marr. Bacon was the artist that designed the greyhound and quail radiator ornaments for Ford in the early 1930's and made museum reproductions of early Ford inventions. He also painted a series of portraits: Henry Ford, Mark Twain, Geo Washington Carver, etc. One of the best known was The Conquest of the Prairie. Bacon paintings are in the White House, Smithsonian Buffalo Bill Historical Center and many major museums. Guaranteed provenance. Needs cleaning, hasn't been cleaned.
