Description
WOW what a collection of Vargas Art during the 1940’s…Gatefolds, Calendars, Signed pieces, Articles, Magazines, etc. This collection was purchased from the Camperos, James & Eleni. They were personal friends of the Vargas’s, and over the years amassed quite a collection of signed pieces and other advertisement pieces. James Camperos was an official authenticator for the San Francisco Art Exchange of Alberto Vargas Art. I had the opportunity to purchase a good part of his collection, however, I’m forced to sell this collection at a much reduced price…I hope you enjoy it as much as I have…. This is truly a one time opportunity to obtain an Original collection of 1940’s Vargas Art. To see pictures of complete collection go to http://www.photobucket.com when on web site Search for zapzapp Signed Piece #1 – An Original June 1945 Gatefold Signed by Alberto Vargas Signed Piece #2 – An Original July 1945 Gatefold Signed by Alberto Vargas Signed Piece #3 – An Original Printed promotional Calendar piece Signed by Alberto Vargas. This Calendar page was sent out to promote the Book titled “Vargas” this piece has not been folded and very few were printed. Signed Piece #4 – An Original non folded 1930’s, Art Decco, Calendar sheet Signed by Vargas. What makes this piece particularly rare is that it is signed with His whole name Joaquin Alberto Vargas, very few of his works are Signed with his whole name. Signed Piece #5 – An Original Limited Edition of a Vargas painting on Opalesque paper that was put out by the San Francisco Art exchange. This piece is signed by Jean Dean, very rare. This piece features the first pose she did for Alberto Vargas that appeared in the June 1942 Esquire magazine, she was just 14 years old. Collection of 30 Original 1940 Gatefolds, all individually framed using UV glass and dry board mounted on Black foam board so as to prevent any printing on the reverse side from coming through. Collection of Calendars including the first Calendar published in 1941. The first page of this calendar, January 1941 shows a girl in a baby carriage, this was suppose to represent the birth of a relationship between Alberto Vargas and Esquire’s publisher David Smart, a relationship that didn’t work out over time. This collection includes the Complete 1944, 1946, & 1947 Esquire’s Calendar Yearbooks as well as complete issues of Esquire’s 1944 & 1945 Holiday Issues which always premiered the years upcoming Calendar. These calendar pages were the best because they had no advertisements on them. A very rare Alberto Vargas Portfolio Art book with complete (12), glossy, 1946 calendar prints inside. A complete November 1942 LIFE Magazine with an article on Alberto Vargas and the Varga girls. It shows many of the models and poses used in the Gatefolds and Calendars. A complete March 1957 PLAYBOY Magazine with the first Article about Alberto Vargas and the Vargas girl. She has no clothes on... now!!! It’s about time…I could post only 6 photographs on Ebay to see the entire collection go to photobucket.com and search under zapzapp.
