Original Framed Painting- American Artist - Franz Weiss Famous American Contemporary Artist - Free Shipping Start Price USD 350.00 Current Price USD 350.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, October 11, 2008 End Time Saturday, October 18, 2008 Location USA See more about 'Original Framed Painting- American Artist - Franz Weiss' Description This auction is for an original mixed media painting by American Contemporary Artist, Franz Weiss.  Mr. Weiss was born in Austria, immigrating to the United States in the 1950s.  He traveled throughout the United States painting various themes.  In his later years, he settled in Tennessee, working as a promenade painter until his death.  This amazing, quaint painting somewhat strays outside of his usual realist landscapes, making it all that much more special.  The painting is mixed media (watercolor and ink is what it appears to be) on paper/board.  It is in immaculate condition and is signed in the lower right corner (as pictured).  It features mushrooms and other natural aspects in an almost surrealist form.  It is beautiful and very interesting to behold.  The artwork dimensions are approximately 6" (w) x 6 1/2" (h); framed dimensions are approximately 11" (w) x 12" (h).  While it is small, it is highly detailed and quite cozy, fitting nicely anywhere into you decor.  The frame bears slight damage, with the finish worn/chipped off in a few spots.  I acquired this item recently at an estate sale.  Mr. Weiss' original oil paintings, while somewhat larger start in the $6,000 range and go up from there.    Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would any additional photos of this item.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.
