Description
M VATERA ANTIQUES ORIGINAL      EARLY 1800’ AMERICANA FOLK ART OLD PAINTING.   We are offering a very rare folk art painting of a young sister and brother. The painting originally was purchased at an estate sale of a wealthy old family from Great Britain. I was told by the ex-owner that it is an early American folk art piece but I have no proof so I can’t guarantee this. However folk art painting is the topic highly sought all over the art market and this piece is absolutely a desirable one. The painting was kept in the same family for a few generations. This painting was painted in the early 19th century; very beautiful subject matter. The painting has been relined: you can see the double canvas in the close up picture. There are three layers: the original canvas and the relined canvas, with a paper layer in between. This painting has been professionally restaurated and examined by expert, therefore it is original piece, not a reproduction or any kind. I checked it under ultra violet light and could see only a few very small spots of inpainting. The surface shows craquelure as a sign of it’s age. Because of that old age, the paint also slightly started to weather, so the restaurator had to put a lacquer or preservative layer all over the surface of the painting to keep the original state. It comes together with a beautiful, wooden gilded frame and the original stretcher. This painting appears to be a primitive, yet delightful and so natural portrait of young sister and brother. The colors remain vibrant, lively and very distinct, the picture speaks for itself. The artist’s skill is truly admirable, a real master of this topic. Unfortunately the painting is unsigned. If you recognize this painting’s style or you think you know to which painter it belongs to, please kindly tell me your opinion so I will put that extra information in the listing. This portrait is one of the rare, valuable, antique folk art pieces. It is showing two adorable kids with rosy cheeks, so pure and big eyes wide open on the lovely faces. The young girl has bright shiny brow hair; she is sitting on the big chair, wearing her nicest pinky dress. Her little hand is holding the wicker basket with full of beautiful fresh flowers. The young, sweet little boy is holding one of the big flowers in the basket. He has such a shiny blonde hair, looking happy in his blue skirt standing by his sister. They both look so naive, innocent and very connected to each other in the portrait. This wonderful folk art piece is something that you do not often come across, so don’t miss this rare chance to own it. We fully guarantee the authenticity and origin of this very early 19th century folk art painting. We took many detailed pictures of this portrait in large size for your convenience.
