Description
Introducing "Dory & Clove"2008 original creation by Rebecca Miller CampbellThis is doll set #57. This super duo is Dory & Clove. And they're all set for a Halloween party! Dory & Clove have been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. They've been painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times & are sealed with a combination of sealers so that they may be beautifully preserved. Dory sits on her own & is made in the fashion of my larger dollies. Clove sits with Dory's assistance. Dory is 20 inches tall from the tip of her hat to the bottom of her shoes. Sweet Clove is 15 inches. These sweet faces have been painted with a variety of mediums. Dory's nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand. Clove's nose & mouth area has been constructed separately stitched to her face. Both dolls have needle-sculpted fingers. Dory's arms are lightly wired allowing her to be gently posed. Both dolls wear sweet party hats constructed from card stock & specialty papers. They're fastened in the back with hand-stitching & feature green seed beads along the edge & embroidery thread tassels. Both hats are tied with chocolate ribbons & are pinned in place for added security. Both dolls also sport painted tan gloves & tan socks & brown boots with mustard yellow laces. Both girls are wearing dresses made from 100% cotton prints. The fabric is truly supple & soft. Their blouses have been made of white muslin & feature hand-gathered sleeves. Dory's blouse features a gorgeous, vintage mother of pearl button at the neckline while little Clove's blouse features a vintage black plastic button. All exposed hems have been hand-stitched as well as the collar & back of each blouse. Dory & Clove carry a very special Halloween bucket...which already holds bits of candy corn the girls have acquired. (Who could resist those faces?) It even has it's own witch hat which keeps Dory & Clove's candy hidden when others are around. This witch bucket, as well as those tiny candy corns, was sculpted out of paper clay, hand-painted & sealed. No molds were used...only my hands & a paintbrush. The tiny hat was made of muslin & has been painted black & sanded. The tiny handle is made of rusty wire. Dory's hair is brown 100% mohair. It was lightly glued & carefully needle-felted to her head. It is styled into wild pigtails."Dory & Clove" were made in my smoke free & pet free home. If you decide they MUST come live with you, They will arrive signed, dated & numbered, with a certificate of authenticity. My dolls are intended for decorative & display purposes only. They are not toys & should not be handled by children. I am a self-taught artist from the foothills of Appalachia. I've been creating for as long as I can remember & make art using several different mediums. I believe doll construction is an art form, not just a craft. I enjoy old ways of doll construction & try to employ those methods when it is possible & sensible to do so. I love the idea of creating dolls, art, etc. from what you have. I love the idea of taking something no longer useful & making it beautiful & important. I like to incorporate vintage items when I can. I pay careful attention to the quality of my stitches when hand-stitching. Being a quilt collector, I know the importance of quality stitching. My dolls are my original designs. I do not use patterns. I often sketch & construct as I go, therefore my dolls cannot be duplicated, even by me. I retain full rights to my work.
