Much of her artistic inspiration stems from the childhood years she spent in the Russian Far East on the shores of the Ussury river. When she was very young, Elena’s family moved to Ekaterinburg where she eventually graduated from the Ekaterinburg College of Art in 1983. Her first personal exhibition in 1991 made a strong impression on local art critics. Elena’s works tend to focus on three major themes: Christianity and Christian motifs, Russian mythology, and day-to-day life in a struggling, transitional Russia. Elena describes her way of painting as "intuitive" or almost "dreamlike", playing with traditional mythology to create unforgettable, straightforward and sincere impressions of life. Elena is well known for her oil paintings as well as graphic artworks. Several of her pieces belong to museums throughout Europe, or are owned in private collections in Russia, Europe and the US Place a Bid!
