Description
Dali, Salvador Glory vultus Moysi (The glory of Moses' face) 1964 19" x 13 3/4" Lithograph in color on heavy rag paper. Signed in color pencil. Annotated "g.a." and lettered. One of 43 examples hand-signed by Dali between 1976-1979. Aside from the edition of 42 in Arabic, and 9 Roman numeral examples. One of one hundred and five illustrations of the "Sacra Biblia" by Salvador Dali, published by Rizzoli Editions, Milan, Italy, 1967, and edited by Guiseppe Albaretto. From the collection of Roberto Mastella. One complete hand-signed Bible also exists, in a private collection. Why is the Biblia Sacra so special? The Biblia Sacra, illustrated by Salvador Dali was commissioned by Dali's good friend, Giuseppe Albaretto. The Biblia Sacra, cosisting of five volumes and 105 lithographs was then published by Rizzoli editions, Milan Italy. The Biblia Sacra, with 105 lithographs is Dali's largest published suite!! Mr. Albaretto's interest in securing the commission from Dali was to lead the artist to God. He believed that studying the Bible, Dali would once again be drawn to the Catholic religion, fearing that through the influence of Dali's wife, Gala, the artist was risking his spiritual redemption. You must also remember that single images from this suite are very hard to get ahold of - so unless you have the means to purchase an entire suite of 105 images then this is the perfect opportunity to add a fabulous work to your collection, by the master of surrealism for much less than the mint you could expect to pay in the gallery. The Divine Comedy and the Biblia Sacra illustrated by Salvador Dali are considered by many to have been Salvador Dali's most incredible and notable work. Published 1967 by Rizzoli, Milan Italy. The paper size of this lithograph is 19 x 13 3/4 inches and is on heavy Rag paper. Michler / Lopsinger reference number: 1600 . This is an original lithograph from the Biblia Sacra Suite - do not confuse this with a later print on poster paper or a smaller reprint from the jerusalem bible which sells for a few hundred dollars intact. This is the real deal - the same piece that popular auctions sell on the cruise ships. More than one year was spent researching and authenticating these lighographs. Mr. Bernand Ewell, ASA, a recognized expert in the field of Dali's works and appriaser of the Salvador Dali Museum, St. Petersburg, Fl, authenticated the lithographs and the hand signatures by Dali. Dr. Mara Albaretto Berio, widow of Guiseppe Albaretto, has also authenticated these lighographs.
