It's in great condition with some minor damage on the edges, particularly in the upper right and left corners. The line work is absolutely beautiful. The sketch is for his Alto-Relief statue called "Solitude" and it is of a nude woman sitting on a chair, the look on her face is very serene and contemplative. Artist Bio: Bill Mack is the only Artist in his particular field as he works with a method called Alto-Relief (which died out during the depression) in which the artist first makes a sketch of the desired design. Next he sculpts the model in clay and then creates a mold from this model (the clay model is destroyed in this process). Bill Mack has also created two unique Materials to enhance his finished works. When you look up his Relief sculptures, you find them in two styles, one is called Bonded Sand and the other is called Bonded Bronze. The Sand version is a delicately textured surface, it is made of soft white sand and resin. Similarly the Bonded Bronze is made of finely ground Bronze and resin. These unique materials make the finished product light enough to hang, but durable enough to last and last. Bill Mack is a local artist living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His truly supporting wife is his primary model since the process is long and only the most patient and understanding model could pose for it. Art Work Description: This is a concept sketch for the sculpture "Solitude". The pencil work is absolutely stunning with no outlines, just perfect shading to create layers of shadows and highlights. Surrounding the figure are multiple signatures. The piece is not dated but would have been completed around 1994.
