Vintage, Old, Antique, Original - NOT a Reproduction - Guaranteed !! From my spinster librarian cousins estate. The name Stephen Willard and the number 626 appear at lower right hand edge of the print. This is a 7" by 9" black and white photograph (12" by 13 1/2" as framed printed), signed in the negative with the name of Stephen Willard, and numbered 626. Willard was a noted pioneering California photographer of the Owens Valley (Mammoth/Mt. Whitney etc.) and the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area). Willard was born in Illinois and came to Southern California as a boy. In his teens he was already photographing the landscape and soon was traveling, to capture with his camera the scenic beauty of the state. Today one encounters his photographs in black and white, some hand colored extensively in oil (and some of those very large size images). I do not know the location of the present scene, but it is likely near Mammoth Lakes, California, in the Eastern Sierra region. Condition appears excellent with the exception of a small water stain on the lower border of the print, and the lower right hand corner shows a crease.  On the reverse is stamped "NOT FOR REPRODUCITON, POSITIVELY NO RELEASE, STEPHEN h.
