Born into a peasant family, he was sent to school in St. Petersburg under the guidance of V. Andreevich - the Court Master in Chasing. Afterwards he started working as a model-maker (models of wax) and was the chaser for the renowned jewellers F.A. Verhovtsev, P. A. Ovchinnikov, V. I. Safonov, A. A. Smirnov, I. S. Sazikov and I. P. Khelbnykov, as well as for the "K.F. Verfel and Hesserich bronze founders", from where many of his bronzes originate.The precent sculpture represents the splendor of V.Y.
