Vintage Chinese Oriental Wall Hung Wood Plaque Shield Start Price USD 1,977.77 Current Price USD 1,977.77 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, August 19, 2008 End Time Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Location Wisconsin See more about 'Vintage Chinese Oriental Wall Hung Wood Plaque Shield' Description SquareTrade © AP6.0 This auction features an incredible vintage Oriental wall hung plaque, Chinese in origin.  It is meant to be set on an easel base, which is attached to the back of the screen.  Plaque/shield is solid teak, in a rich dark brown patina.  Bonnet or crest is ornately carved and scrolled, as are two areas, one on each side, and one at the base.  Eighteen Oriental figures in various celebrating attitudes, in courtly garb are inset and are composed of ivory for face and hands; jade, quartz,carnelian, and various agates and mother of pearls (there is damage and some of the semi-precious stones have fallen off ~ we have been advised by our client that they are in possession of many, if not, all of the missing peaces).  Plaque/shield is solid and very heavy, a museum quality piece.  The theme is about the story of life, beginning at the bottom and proceeding circularly to the top, much like Polonius. This item measures 38" long; 26" wide; and 1" thick; and, as mentioned above, the item does have an attached easel.
