This art was brought to peru by italian brother Bernardo Bitti, SJ (1548-1610) Bernardo Bitti learned his art in Rome among the Mannerist painters who followed in the train of Michelangelo. Historian Manuel Soria called him the best painter of sixteenth century in South America. This painting is devotional in nature and richly decorated.
