Description
This is a spectacular original pastel painting on artboard of the world's most notorious billionaire recluse,Howard Hughes. It was executed by world renowned artist extraordinaire Zoe Mozert in the late 1930's or very early 1940's,during the time Howard had hired Zoe to create the magnificent poster for Hughes' epic movie "The Outlaw" starring Jane Russell. Zoe was a very beautiful woman and Howard was at the height of his movie making success as well as the height of his womanizing ways. The two of them were extremely fond of each other,resulting in Zoe's ability to convince the ultra-reclusive billionaire to pose for her,when all others had failed in such attempts. Howard was known for his ability to find and hire the very best,most talented people to work for him in all of his endevours. In hiring Zoe Mozert,he got the best female American illustrator of the 20th century to create the artwork used to publicize his latest film. Their work together on that project ultimately led to the creation of this magnificent painting of Howard Hughes. Look at the picture below and you be the judge. I find it to be quite exquisite and most scintillating. It is on an artboard that measures approximately 12" x 16". The overall size,including the frame is approximately 17" x 21". As you can see,this is an extremely well executed piece that really captures the handsome good looks of Howard Hughes at the prime of his storied life. It would benefit from a cleaning,but I will leave that to the buyer,as some people prefer to leave things as they are with the natural patina. Shipping will be determined after the sale and the cost will depend on who the buyer chooses to handle this valuable painting.
